John Francis “Jack” Mahon of Hingham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025. He was 85.
He was born in Quincy to Helen (O’Meara) and Donald G. Mahon and raised in the Wollaston neighborhood of Quincy. He graduated from Quincy high school and went on to work in the automotive industry, owning Mahon Dodge in Hingham. Later, he transitioned to real estate and development and bought and sold homes and land through his company, Mahon Development. John was an accomplished entrepreneur that was able to thrive and find success in all his endeavors.
He was an avid Boston Bruins fan and even held season tickets. Friends and family have fond memories of the many games they were taken to and how fun John was every second. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on and driving his antique cars and going on fishing trips. John will be remembered for his generosity, courage and strength. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 50 years to Maureen (DiBella) Mahon of Hingham. Survived by his two children from a previous marriage, Kevin and Jean Mahon, several grand and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Helen (O’Meara) and Donald G. Mahon and 5 siblings.
A graveside service will be held privately at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in John’s name may be made to the American Red Cross, 430 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006, or a charity of your choice.
