John R. “Jack” Schatzl of Braintree, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was 93.
He was born in Quincy on July 16, 1931, to Mary (Schlager) and Frank Joseph Schatzl. He grew up in Quincy and was drafted into the U.S. Army after high school. He served from 1952-1954 in the 101st Airborne and was stationed in Bad Tolz, Germany, volunteer duty assignment to 1st Special Forces, 10th Group.
John moved to Braintree in 1962. He worked as an electronics technician in Sears & Roebuck for 35 years before retiring and moving to Florida for 24 years. John raised tropical fish and parakeets as hobbies and enjoyed ice cream and old westerns. John was the best dad and a wonderful and caring person to his family and others.
John is survived by a son, Kurt Schatzl, grandson, John C. Schatzl and granddaughter, Lindsay Schatzl and many nephews and nieces.
