Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Wilk, John F. “Jack” of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 17, 2026, after a brief illness.

Jack was surrounded by his loving wife of 60 years, Dottie (Dorothy Treacy), his four children and their families. Jack leaves Brian Wilk (Christine) of Hingham, Karen Keohane (John) of Quincy, Maureen Panagrossi (Jon) of Marshfield, and Tricia Biegel (Kevin) of Charleston SC.

Jack grew up in Malden, MA and attended Malden public schools before enlisting in the US Army in 1959. Although he never saw active duty, he was very proud of his commitment to our country. Jack met Dottie at the United Fruit Company, fishing off the proverbial corporate pier. They were married two years later and moved to Quincy in 1966. They cared so deeply for each other, always, and their relationship served as an example of devotion and true love to their families and friends.

He worked as a project manager for many years at the United Fruit Company, Talbots and finally Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Work was not discussed much around the dinner table as Jack was much more interested in his family, the Church, all Boston sports teams and his erratic golf game. Education was very important to him, as he sacrificed to send his children to Sacred Heart Elementary, Boston College High and Fontbonne Academy, preparing them well for college. Jack was also proud that he earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern in 1975, going to school part-time while juggling full-time employment and managing a young growing family.

His number one interest for the last 30 years was his grandchildren. Patrick, Timmy and Matty Keohane, Catherine, Andrew and Tommy Wilk, Josh and Tessie Panagrossi, and Quinn and Harriet Biegel. Every phone conversation began and ended with a rundown of the next week’s games and activities. Two words will always remind us of Jack. "Always There". Every baseball, hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse game he could make. Every band performance, or dance recital possible. Of course, "Always There" also refers to Jack volunteering at Sacred Heart Church, Squantum Yacht Club, the Knights of Columbus and most recently, the Presidents Golf Course men's league. "Always There" also captures Jack's pole position at the buffet line at family parties, for first course, seconds, and definitely dessert!

We will always remember Jack's smile, never more beautiful than when he was telling us stories on Nantucket about his childhood trips, his family tree and recounting all his new memories at the Shack and PapaNannas. His grin became slightly devilish when he was taking our money at the card table, whether it be playing Poker or Pokeno. We are sure his golf buddies will miss that same grin as Jack was notorious for winning money for closest to the pin and quota, courtesy of his elevated 28+ handicap. Jack’s long golf career culminated with a Hole in One, one week after his 84th birthday!

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 5/26/2026 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday 5/27/2026 prior to the Funeral Mass from Divine Mercy Parish in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
