Joseph "Joey" Cutler, born on June 11, 2000, in Weymouth, MA, peacefully passed away in his sleep on August 31, 2025 in Carver, MA. Joey was cherished and beloved by all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Joey was the dear son of Martha (Dowling) Cutler of Quincy and Jonathan R. Cutler of Cape Cod, and the loving brother of Ashley E. Cutler. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Ruth and Thomas Dowling, and his paternal grandfather David A. Cutler. He leaves behind his Nana and Papa Frances and Michael Kelley. Joey will also be missed dearly by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Growing up in Hingham, Joey embraced life with an adventurous spirit. He found joy in the simple pleasures, whether it was swimming in the summer sun, camping, or simply enjoying time spent outside among nature. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, frequently drawing friends and neighbors to him, where his warmth and kindness made every gathering feel like a celebration. Joey had a special talent for making everyone feel loved, earning him the affectionate title of the "Best Hugger."
In pursuit of growth and learning, Joey attended South Shore Educational Collaborative, where he not only excelled academically but also developed lifelong friendships. After graduating, he continued to pursue his growth at HAC (Habilitation Assistant Co.) in Weymouth, dedicating himself to fostering connections within his community.
The loving memories of Joey, filled with laughter, compassion, and affection, will forever remain woven into the fabric of those who were fortunate enough to share in his life. His gentle spirit will be missed deeply, yet his legacy of kindness and joy will inspire all to embrace life's beautiful moments. Joey Cutler will always be remembered—not just for the wonderful things he did, but for the remarkable person he was.
Joey was a proud and cherished member of Habilitation Assistances’ Weymouth program, where he found joy, friendship, and community. One of the highlights of his year was participating in the annual Special Olympics event — a time that truly reflected his spirit, determination, and love of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Special Olympics Massachusetts (12 Forest St, Marlborough, MA 01752) in Joey’s name, to honor his memory and continue supporting a cause so close to his heart. Donations can also be made to The South Shore Educational Collaborative Community Program (75 Abington Street, Hingham MA 02043).
