Joseph Francis Fernandez

Joseph Francis Fernandez, 68, of Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Born and raised in Quincy, Joe was the beloved son of the late Eugene Louis Fernandez and Frances Lena Fernandez. He was a gifted mechanic, dedicated equipment hauler and tow truck driver. Joe was known for his steady hands, sharp mind, and so many stories which ranged from child friendly to ones that should never be retold.

Joe had a passion for watching NASCAR and many other shows, but his greatest joy was found in the art of wood carving. A truly talented craftsman, he poured his heart into every piece he created, leaving behind beautiful work that will be cherished by those who loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann Fernandez; his sons, Joseph Fernandez and wife Jessica, and Anthony Fernandez and wife Meagan; brothers, John Fernandez and wife Brenda, James Fernandez, and George Fernandez; sisters in law, Lynne Fernandez, Carolyn Fernandez and Sandi Smead Sprague. Joe was a proud grandfather to Scarlett, Paisley, Anthony and Joseph. He was also an uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Preceded in death by brother Eugene (Gino) Fernandez and son Timothy Fernandez.

Joseph's legacy is one of skillful hands, the ability to fix anything mechanical and love for his family and craft. He will be remembered with love and missed deeply by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend services on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church (270 Franklin St. Quincy, MA). From 9:30am-10:30am will be the time to offer condolences to the family, and immediately following from 10:30am-11:30am a service will be held.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s name to First Presbyterian Church in Quincy.
