Mr. Joseph F. LoPresti, of Meredith, NH, formerly of Weymouth, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was 96 years old.
Joseph was the husband of the late Carmella (Pepe) LoPresti, who passed away in September 2017. Together, they shared many years focused on family and building a life in Weymouth.
He leaves behind his children, Joan Rees and her husband Paul of Meredith, NH; Carol Jonas and her husband Kevin of Laconia, NH; and Joseph LoPresti and his wife Lori of East Hampstead, NH. He was predeceased by his daughter, Marian LoPresti.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Paul, Kelsey, Brenda, and Tommy Rees; Morgan, Amanda, and Cameron Jonas; and Meredith, Ryan, and Anna LoPresti; as well as 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph spent more than 70 years living in Weymouth. A skilled barber and hairdresser, he owned and operated the Wollaston Beauty Box in Wollaston, MA. Through his work, he built lasting relationships with generations of customers before retiring more than 25 years ago.
He was especially proud of his South Boston upbringing, and often shared stories of growing up in a small home on I Street with his two brothers and five sisters—memories that stayed with him throughout his life.
Family was very important to Joseph. He showed his love in quiet, steady ways and valued the time he spent with those closest to him. He was known for his ever-present laughter and sense of humor, which brought warmth to gatherings and everyday moments alike. He was also a deeply religious man, whose faith was an important part of his life.
In addition to his home in Weymouth, Joseph maintained a long and lasting connection to New Hampshire’s Lakes Region for more than 60 years. He cherished time at his second home there, where he enjoyed being with family and the serenity of life on the lake. In his later years, he remained there under the care of his daughter Joan.
Joseph was also a longtime member of the Centre Harbor (NH) Town Band, where he played the clarinet for more than 10 years, continuing until the age of 93. He looked forward to the summer concerts on the town green and took his role in the band seriously during his retirement, treating it almost like a job. While he would modestly admit he was not the band’s strongest musician, he was respected and appreciated by his fellow members and valued being part of the group.
Joseph will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, his faith, and the importance he placed on family throughout his life.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 3–7 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, East Weymouth, 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 20, 2026, prior to the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 12 PM.
Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centre Harbor Town Band, Town of Centre Harbor, Attn: Selectmen, P.O. Box 140, Center Harbor, NH 03226
