Joseph Patrick McDonough (75) of Plainville, Massachusetts, passed away on September 21, 2024. Joseph was born on Christmas Eve,1948, in Dorchester, MA, to John McDonough and Carolyn Vitagliano. He was the President of his graduating class at Quincy High School in 1966 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Joseph later became a licensed electrician and built a career as an electrical estimator.
A true Boston native, Joseph loved catching a Red Sox game at Fenway Park or enjoying a quiet day at home watching the New England Patriots. He cherished Sunday suppers with family, especially during the game. Joseph held dual citizenship in the United States and Ireland and was immensely proud of his Irish heritage.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Fengrong Ding; his daughters, Heather McDonough, Holly McDonough, and Siobhan Coffin; his son-in-law, Jason Coffin; his stepson Jenyang, and his girlfriend, Jendan, and his grandchildren, Bryen McDonough, Abigail Sheeley-McDonough, Eric Veliotis, and Liam Coffin. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanne Curry and Carolyn Austin, and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John McDonough, and Carolyn Vitagliano.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, Boston.
