Joyce Marie Lydon

Lydon, Joyce Marie (Lydon) of Quincy, originally from South Boston, died March 14, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her children, family and friends.

The beloved wife of the late Michael J. Lydon. Loving Mother of Kellie Mullen of South Boston, Bridget Vardaro and her husband Nick of Marshfield and Joseph M. Lydon of Quincy. Daughter of the late Joseph F. Lydon and Mary (Manley) Lydon. Sister of Candi Lydon of South Boston and the late Barbara Joyce, Joseph F. Lydon, II and Doreen Lydon. Devoted Nana to Norah Mullen and Sophia and Michael Vardaro. Joyce is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

In her younger years, Joyce attended South Boston High School and then became a hairdresser shortly thereafter, with her sisters and friends at The Shop “Mimi’s Beauty Parlor”. After meeting her late husband Michael at The Shop, Joyce moved to Squantum to raise her family and begin her new career at the MBTA Employees Credit Union. After retiring in 2020, she spent most of her time with her 3 grandchildren. Joyce will always be remembered as a cherished wife, mother and friend, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a beacon of love and strength, always ready with a comforting meal, a welcoming home, and a listening ear. Her dedication to her family was unwavering as she tirelessly cooked, hosted gatherings and cared for her children with boundless love. Though she may be gone, her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who she loved and cared for. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Wednesday, March 20th from 8:30-9:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to the Lydon Brigade Fundraising page for the Jimmy Fund Walk
