Judith Adele Gallagher, affectionately known as Judy, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, at the age of 85. She was surrounded by her loving family as she made her final transition, fulfilling her wish to depart this world in the comfort of her home.
Born on August 29, 1939, in Somerville, MA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Stella and Arthur Briere. Judy was the beloved wife of Michael Gallagher, Jr., with whom she shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Their journey together began at the Oak Lee in Jackson, NH, culminating in a joyful wedding on November 6, 1965, and they subsequently raised their three children in Somerville where Judy actively participated in the St. Catherine's Parish community.
Judy is survived by her sons, Michael Gallagher and his wife Susie of Billerica and their three daughters: Adele, Melanie, and Linnaea, and Danny Gallagher and his wife Michelle of Plymouth, who are blessed with children from Dan’s previous marriage: Madeleine and Tristan, both residing in Plymouth. She also leaves behind her daughter, Susanne (Gallagher) Ames and husband Trevor of Milton, who have provided Judy with two beloved grandchildren, Tyler and Jackie.
Judy is preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine (Briere) Gallagher, who passed in 2024. She is also survived by her brothers Peter Briere and his wife Joan of Wayland, and Paul Briere and his wife Karen of Bridgewater, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will fondly remember her vibrant presence.
Judy touched lives of everyone she met with her loving spirit and quick witted humor. She loved to spend time with friends and family playing games especially Dominos, Scrabble, and cards, and of course Word-with-Friends. She was the life of the party and made everyone feel at home and ease in her company. She cared and loved deeply spending most of her time with her family and friends with trips to the Cape, NH, and Florida spending every summer in Plymouth at Ellis Haven. She also enjoyed yearly trips to Disney and cruises with her husband Michael. In her living, she left a legacy of joy and love and will be forever remembered and revered.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday June 4, 2025 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
