Kari Jeanne (Brown) Hicks entered into the loving arms of Jesus and was reunited with her beloved late mother on the morning of December 14, 2025. She was 65 years old. Kari was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, Mambo, Maam’ma, G-Ma, Auntie, and Auntie the Great. She loved to sing and to give. She never failed to make those she loved feel special. Anyone who knew her knows that her family was her pride and joy. She was the most generous and empathetic person to all she encountered and she mothered (or grandmothered) every person who was blessed to know her.
From May to October, you could find her swimming in her perfectly heated pool all day long—usually with one or all of her grandbabies. She was the unofficial swimming instructor, teaching all the kids and grandkids to swim. She never missed a single recital, competition, school event, basketball game, soccer game, and even went to most weekly lessons just to get to watch. She was a fierce supporter of her children, and made sure they knew how proud she was of all they did. She was the queen of making up silly songs, making babies laugh, and rocking them to sleep. She was the keeper of the birthdays, the maker of all the holiday magic, and the rock that her family relied on.
Loving wife of 44 years to John H. Hicks of Weymouth. Cherished mother to John Hicks of Chicago, IL, Ricky Hicks and his wife Carey of Kingston, and Alanna DeMorat and her husband Steve of Abington. Doting grandmother to Ava, Aurora, Seren, June, Hadley, Rose, Lucy, and Dean. Daughter of Richard L. Brown and the late Olive Jean (Tibbets) Brown. Sister to Steven Brown and his wife Jill of Lucedale, MS, Dallas Pitts and her husband Mike of Fulton, MS, Joy Trease and her husband Christopher of Hamilton, MS, Joel Brown and his wife Sue of Agricola, MS, Tammy Pierce and her husband Adam of Rome, GA, and the late Debbie Brown. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends who she considered to be family.
