Dr. Karyn Elizabeth Esielonis, Ph.D., died September 4, 2025, at home in Quincy, Massachusetts at the age of 67.
The eldest daughter of the late Felix Michael and Beverly Stoner Esielonis of Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 5, 1958.
Always an exceptional student, Karyn attended Harvard University where she earned three degrees - her A.B., A.M., and a Ph.D. in Art History/Fine Arts. Her love of knowledge and learning would lead her to teaching at several top Universities on the East Coast. Teaching Art History at the collegiate level to tutoring young minds in an array of disciplines was her lifelong passion.
Karyn will be remembered for her great intellect, dry wit and keen sense of humor. She loved to laugh. A skilled and spirited debater, she cherished a good conversation on any topic and loved sparring with anyone who would engage.
Her love of animals brought out her playful, gentle side and a childlike sweetness. A kind, gentle soul, beloved by many, gone much too soon.
She is survived by her brother Steven and sister-in law Susan Esielonis of Kennebunk, ME, her sister Beverly Anderson of Quincy, MA and sister Jan Esielonis and Mark Parker of Annapolis, MD, her nieces Alexandra McGerigle and Kathryn Anderson and nephew, Michael Anderson.
