Kathleen Marie Gillis, age 68, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her beloved home on Friday, October 16, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Kathy was born on August 2, 1958, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Robert and Marie Kral.
Kathy will be remembered for her nurturing heart, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She had a special way of lighting up every room she entered and was truly everyone’s favorite person. Kathy loved bringing people together, especially hosting Christmas in her home that she turned into a winter wonderland every year. Kathy adored celebrating special occasions and simply enjoying time with the people she loved. She always made sure everyone was well-fed, having a good time, and felt right at home.
Kathy passed peacefully while overlooking her favorite view of the ocean. Her porch was her happy place, where she shared countless memories with family and loved ones. Most importantly, her annual Fourth of July cookout was a tradition everyone looked forward to each year. She knew how to make an ordinary gathering feel special and believed that life was meant to be enjoyed, preferably with good company, oldies music on repeat, and a drink in hand.
Kathy also had a deep love for all things Irish. From the music and food to the annual trips to the Irish Village on Cape Cod, these traditions held a special place in her heart and became the backdrop for many treasured family memories. Those trips were more than a getaway; they were a celebration of family, laughter, and the traditions she loved so dearly.
Above all, Kathy adored her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to spoil them. Whether it was a surprise gift on an ordinary weekday or a little something just because, she loved making them feel special and seeing them smile. Her love was woven into the little things, the unexpected surprises, and the memories her family will cherish forever.
Kathy leaves behind her beloved husband, Barry Gillis, of Weymouth, MA, and her three children: Lauren Bartlett and her husband, Robert Bartlett, of Lancaster, SC; Jessie Gillis and her girlfriend, Brittney Russell, of Weymouth, MA; and Kellie Martin and her husband, Ryan Martin, of Braintree, MA.
She also leaves behind her five beloved grandchildren: Robert Bartlett, Rose Bartlett, Raelynn Bartlett, Nathan Martin, and another grandson expected this fall. Kathy is survived by her three brothers, Robert, Thomas, and Michael, along with their loving spouses and children. She also leaves behind many dear friends who will forever miss her generous heart, lively spirit, and the joy she brought into their lives.
Visiting hours will be held at Keohane Funeral Home, located at 40 Sea Street, North Weymouth, MA 02191, on Thursday, October 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome Church, located at 632 Bridge Street, North Weymouth, MA 02191, on Friday, October 23, at 10:30 a.m.
