Kathleen Connolly Owen passed away unexpectedly in Weymouth, Massachusetts on October 19, 2026.

Kathy was born on December 2, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts to Edward and Madeleine Connolly.

Her young years were spent under the tutelage and spiritual guidance of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. She was a proud graduate of Immaculate Conception School of Weymouth (1961), Fontbonne Academy (1965), and Regis College (1969). Kathy had a talent and passion for art, a subject she taught in public schools in Weymouth and York, Pennsylvania.

The cornerstone event of Kathy’s life was giving birth to Melissa Ann Owen on June 3, 1975. Kathy’s steadfast devotion to Missie never faded over the years after Missie lost a courageous battle with Cystic Fibrosis on September 4,1995. Recollections of the light of her life always provided great solace. Kathy’s final thoughts were, without doubt, of a joyful reunion.

Kathy is survived by her brother, Leonard Connolly. She shared countless childhood memories with her cousins, the Rousseaus, and especially enjoyed reliving these with John. Kathy also leaves behind her dear friend from their days as college roommates, Ellen (Cartier) Descheneaux.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church of Weymouth on October 29 at 10:30 AM prior to burial alongside her parents, daughter, and maternal grandmother, Madeleine Cain, at St Francis Xavier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of choice.
