Cotter, Kathryn "Kay" Patricia (Keegan) of Quincy passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026,
at 99 years old. Beloved wife of the late Edmund J. Cotter for 75 years. Loving mother of
Kathleen Horigan and her late husband Thomas of Scituate, Maureen Zeoli and late
husband Raymond of Bridgewater and Kevin Cotter and fiancé Colleen Burgess of Higham.
Proud daughter of Edward and Esther Keegan. Cherished sister of Patricia Forsberg and
late husband Roy, the late Dorathea Conley and husband Roger, and the late Edward
Keegan and wife Mary.
Devoted Grammy of Jennifer Columbus and husband Michael, Jaclyn Zeoli and husband
Conor Pedro, Patrick Horigan, Brendan and wife Nicole, Courtney Beach and husband
Brian, Caitlin Haskins and husband Nicholas, Colleen Allen and husband Jonathan.
Adoring great-grandmother (Grammy) of Kylie Ryan, Maeve, Dylan, Andrew, Brody, Bailey
Lucy, Thomas, and Haley.
Also survived by dear friend Patricia Kilroy and late husband James, and many nieces and
nephews .
Kay received her Bachelor's degree from Boston Teachers College. Upon graduation, Kay
taught in the Boston Public School system for several years. After raising her family, Kay
received her Master's degree in Education from Boston State College and returned to
teaching at Merrymount Elementary School in Quincy, and Atlantic Middle School in
Quincy, where she remained until her retirement.
In her retirement, Kay joined the Quincy YMCA where she was a proud member until the
2020 pandemic. She was also an active member of the Massachusetts Teachers
Association, Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kapa, and the Quincy Council on
Aging.
In their retirement, Kay and Ed traveled throughout the World, but their favorite place was
always home spending time with their children and many grandchildren and great-
grandchildren who they adored.

Thursday May 28th 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785
Hancock Street, Quincy prior to the Funeral Mass in St Agatha's Church, Milton at 10:30
