Mr. Keir R. Easter of Kingston, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. He was 83.
Keir grew up in Jamaica Plain in a large close knit family, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He cherished his memories of Franklin Park and Egleston Square, often returning for neighborhood reunions he helped to organize.
He was the beloved husband of Leona H. (Schmidt) Easter for 55 years. Nothing gave him more joy than making her smile, with the quick wit he was known and admired for. They enjoyed going for rides to sit by the bay, always making sure to stop for ice cream on the way home.
The loving father and father-in-law of Susan E. O’Neill and her husband, James, of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Daniel K. Easter and his wife, Shanie, of Weymouth. He was also a very proud grandfather of Keir J. O’Neill, Maxwell Easter and Audrey Easter.
As the youngest of nine children, brother of Joan Trowbridge of Norwell, and the late Reginald, Gerald, Douglas, Eric, Frederick, Roger Easter and Muriel “Jean” Young. Uncle to many nephews and ”favorite” nieces. Keir was always magnetic at family gatherings, telling off-color jokes and humorous stories.
A great music lover, Keir would often break into song. He enjoyed performing music with his childhood friends John and George, forming the “Elderly Brothers” band. In his later years he took up swimming at the local pool, with his gregarious personality, he easily formed new friendships with the other members who he would have lunch with a few times a month.
Keir was a proud carpenter like his father and many of his brothers before him. When he wasn’t working as foreman at a window and door company, he was completing projects around the house. After retiring he would build birdhouses and gumball machines to sell at local craft fairs. Nothing made him prouder than knowing that he passed on his ability to fix and problem solve to his children and grandchildren.
