Kenneth M. Gray Jr., a cherished soul known for his unwavering dedication to family, friends and his craft, passed away on September 8, 2024, at his home in Lakeville, MA, just shy of his 70th birthday. Born on September 11, 1954, in Brockton, MA, Kenneth's life was marked by his loving nature and his exceptional ability to fix anything he laid his hands on.
The beloved son of the late Kenneth and Georgianna Gray of Randolph, MA, Kenneth grew up in a home where the value of hard work and creativity was deeply instilled. He carried these values throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him. As a dear brother, Kenneth leaves behind Sheila Hayes and her husband Daniel and was predeceased by his sister Georgianna McCarty and her husband John. His beloved cousins, nieces and nephew will remember his kindness, laughter and wisdom he shared.
Kenneth's legacy continues through his role as a loving step-father to Lindsay Ferreira and her husband Matt of Lakeville, Kelly Cook and her husband Josh of Hudson, and Alicia Long and her husband Matt of Westport. He embraced the title of Papa with joy and pride, doting on his grandchildren Mackenzie Cook, Hunter Ferreira, Olivia Ferreira, and Madison Cook.
Professionally, Kenneth was a skilled diesel mechanic, a trade that he mastered with both passion and precision. His career spanned several prominent businesses, including Modern Continental and ATL Construction, and he played a role in the monumental Big Dig project.
Kenneth's interests were as diverse as his skills. He had a deep fascination with trains and cars, and he could often be found tinkering in his workshop. Despite his busy hands, he knew how to enjoy his downtime. Kenneth could be found relaxing while watching "Yellowstone," with a pack of Ritz crackers at his side, savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Kenneth will remember him as a man who was always on the move, yet never too busy for a laugh or to lend a hand. His grandchildren, in particular, will recall the time he spent with them, imprinting on them the values of love and dedication.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
