Lena May Trouth

Lena May Trouth, a beloved matriarch and cherished community member, passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on January 19, 1929, in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, Lena lived a life filled with love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and community.

Lena's legacy is one of devotion and strength. She was a strong independent woman who dedicated her life to her children, Maureen Grier and her husband Robert Grier, and Lena's son Richard Trouth. Lena was not only a loving mother but also a doting grandmother to Sara Grier and Gabrielle Grier. Lena also had many cherished nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, she exhibited an unwavering spirit and determination, bringing her children from Jamaica to the United States to provide them with better opportunities. Lena’s desire to uplift and support her family exemplified her selflessness and love.

In her personal pursuits, Lena was a talented pianist who spent countless hours playing music that brought joy to her family and friends. With so much love and care, she even taught her granddaughter how to play piano. She had an inherent love for volunteer work, often giving back to those in need. Her hobbies included sewing, cultivating her garden, and assembling a cherished collection of newspaper articles from Jamaica. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Lena's vibrant personality and sharp wit made her a delightful companion, and her thoughtful nature extended to helping her friends during challenging times.

Lena also held a special rapport with the Quincy Council on Aging, where she found fulfillment in working with her fellow seniors, a reflection of her kind heart and dedication to community service.

Lena Trouth is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Maurison Trouth, and her son, Garth O'neil Trouth. She also had five siblings, all of whom have passed: Joyce Hetram, Roy Reid, Vernon Reid, Daphne Hallett, and Clive Reid. Though she leaves behind a legacy of loss, the impact she made in the lives of her family and the community will endure.
