Liam Daniel Burns, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was 30 years old.
Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts on February 15, 1996, Liam grew up in Abington, attended St. Bridget's School and graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, Class of 2014.
From a very young age, Liam was curious and eager to learn. He was a voracious reader, everything from Nordic mythology and Greek philosophy to medieval limericks, and his home was a treasure trove of books. Liam also enjoyed all kinds of music and was a self‑taught guitarist and keyboardist. Other passions included sewing, 3‑D printing, and creating all types of art for his friends and family.
Liam had a generous heart and was always ready to help, listen, or simply show up when needed. His kindness was sincere and without expectation, forming friendships that were deep, loyal, and lasting.
He was an individual following his own path, embracing the things that interested him, and never feeling the need to conform. To know him was to know a thoughtful, genuine, and one‑of‑a‑kind person.
Liam was the beloved son of Patricia Ann Gleavy and her husband William P. Hanley Sr. of Stoddard, New Hampshire and the late William J. Burns. He was the loving brother of the late William Patrick Hanley Jr., and Christopher Hanley and Kelly Hanley, both of Concord, New Hampshire.
Liam was the devoted grandson of the late Eileen and John Gleavy. Cherished nephew of Kathleen McCarthy of Weymouth, John and Colleen Gleavy of Lakeville, and the late Dennis Gleavy and his surviving wife Carol Murphy of San Francisco, California.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Liam’s Celebration of Life service at 11 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 398 Elm Street, Weymouth, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Liam’s name to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
