Mary "Linda" (Robison) Ryan

Mary “Linda” (Robison) Ryan, of Hingham, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was 81.

Linda was born in Dorchester on May 21, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Caffrey) Robison. She was raised in Dorchester, attended local schools and was a proud graduate of Dorchester High School, where she was a member of the school’s championship winning girls’ basketball team. Her spirit, teamwork, and determination on the court reflected the way she lived her life with heart, kindness, and strength.

Linda was the best of people. She was friendly, outgoing, and deeply compassionate. Linda had an extraordinary gift for caring for others and was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. She looked after countless children over the years, feeding those who had no food, comforting those who needed warmth, and making every child feel seen and loved. Everyone knew Linda, and everyone loved her.

For 30 years, Linda worked for the Hingham Public Schools as a lunch lady, beginning in 1983 and retiring in 2013 as the cafeteria manager. Her dedication, humor, and care for the students and staff made her a beloved part of the school community.

Outside of work, Linda enjoyed playing softball and bowling and she was an avid puzzle lover. She could spend hours completing one after another. Linda was a fountain of knowledge and especially loved playing Trivial Pursuit, where her sharp mind and quick wit always shone through.

Linda will be remembered for her generous heart, her laughter, and the countless ways she touched the lives of others. She made the world around her a kinder, warmer place, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Linda was the devoted mother of Jill L. Knupp and her husband Matthew of Plymouth, Patrick Ryan of Hingham, and Michael Ryan and his wife Denise of Marlboro. She was the loving Nana Coo-Coo of Harrison, Anderson, Allison, and Emerson Ryan, all of Marlboro. Linda was the dear sister of Thomas Robison and his wife Linda of Randloph, late David “Whitie” Robison and his surviving wife Mildred “Mimi” of Weymouth, late Robert Robison, and late Charles Robison. She is also survived by her former husband Patrick Ryan of Plymouth, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square).
