Lisa Ann (Burns) MacKenzie passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2025, after years of health battles and complications. She managed through so many difficult years of health issues with strength and determination. She was strong. She was a warrior. She was an all around badass.
Lisa was a proud and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, cousin, and caregiver to many. She is survived by her son, Kevin MacKenzie of New Bedford, her daughter Jordan MacKenzie Whittaker and her husband Michael Whittaker of Quincy, her daughter Jillian MacKenzie and her partner Caroline Spada of Portland, ME, her forever best friend, Lisa Devlin of Abington, her brothers, Jack Burns of Weymouth, and Michael Burns of New York City. She was predeceased by her brother Leo Burns of Quincy. She was the beloved Nana of Baileigh Ann MacKenzie, devoted Auntie to Christopher, Torrey, Ryan, Casey and Leo Burns and to Justin Flanagan, and dear godmother to Jackson Butts.
She was born on September 10, 1963 to Barbara (Grealish) and Leo Burns. She was raised and educated in Dorchester before raising her own family in Quincy. Lisa's family was her pride and joy. That family includes her aunts, uncles and many cousins from both her Burns and Grealish extended families. It also includes so many of her dear friends and her children's friends who became part of her chosen family over the years.
Lisa will always be remembered as someone that loved fiercely and unconditionally. She never thought twice about helping someone in need. Her home had an open door policy, welcoming all to join her table for holiday gatherings and family traditions. She loved celebrating with her family and friends, having a good time and a good laugh. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Thursday, August 21, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark's Church on Friday August 22 at 10:00am, 1725 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA.
