Lois Margaret Chase, 93, passed peacefully on May 18, 2026, in Pembroke, Massachusetts, surrounded by her family after a long period of declining health.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts, on May 1, 1933, Lois was the daughter of Lester Paterson and Margaret Paterson (Gibb). She was predeceased by her siblings, Lester, George, and Elizabeth.
Lois graduated from Newton High School and began her career as a dental assistant before dedicating herself to raising her 4 children. Later in her life, she returned to work as the secretary at First Baptist Church of Wollaston for more than 30 years. She was also an active and devoted member, serving on numerous church committees over the years. Her commitment to her church community touched many lives.
Lois found great joy in spending time with her family in Ogunquit, Maine. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Interfaith food pantry as well as an avid reader and a loyal fan of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. Above all, she will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, generosity, and her famous "half-way cookies.”
Lois was deeply involved in the lives of her grandchildren and took great pleasure in attending and discussing their many activities and accomplishments, from sports and music to school events and achievements. Her grandchildren are forever grateful for her unwavering love and support and will cherish the memories they shared with her.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Susan and Douglas Tressel of Pembroke; David and Laurie Chase of Eliot, Maine; Janice Morse of Newport News, Virginia; and Steven and Suzanne Chase of Hanover. She is also survived by 13 cherished grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home 809 Main St, Weymouth, MA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, at First Baptist Church of Wollaston 81 Prospect Ave Quincy, MA at 10:00 AM.
