Lorraine (Barnes) Callaghan, of Weymouth, passed away on January 23, 2024. She was 93.
Lorraine was raised in MA and ME and settled in Weymouth to raise her family with her beloved late husband of 59 years, John J. Callaghan. A summer resident of Dennisport for over 50 years, Lorraine and her family loved being part of a wonderful extended Cape family, where they were known as The Seven C’s.
Lorraine’s favorite name was Grammy, which she truly embraced. A visit with Grammy usually included games, snacks, a meal, and a nice nap with a handmade afghan.
She was an intense crocheter and card player. She loved reciting poems, putting babies to sleep, a good bowl of ice cream, and she loved a bargain.
Loving mother of the late John J. Callaghan, Jr., and his surviving wife, Wendy, of Forest Hills, MD; Donna D’Amato and her husband, Paul “Chip” of Middleboro; Jane Del Dotto and her husband, Edward, of Moultonborough, NH; Michael Callaghan and his wife, Mary, of Jupiter, FL; and Susan Callaghan Gutro of Quincy.
Sister of Jean Lucente of Simsbury, CT, and the late Chester, Frank, Arline, Dorothy, Robert and James.
Adored Grammy of James Del Dotto and his wife, Kelly; Robert Del Dotto and his partner, Lindsey Gorgol; Paulina D’Amato, Maria Del Dotto, Heidi D’Amato, Kirsten Reilly, Lydia O’Neil and her husband, Kaileb; Kyle Callaghan, Micah D’Amato and his wife, Melanie; Kaylee Callaghan, Brian Gutro and Scotty Gutro.
