Lorraine M. Deta

Lorraine Shields Deta, 79, of Quincy, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20th. Born on May 5, 1946, in Boston, Lorraine was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and loyal friend, remembered for her humor and warmth. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Richard and Helen Shields, and sister Helen Shields and late brother Raymond Shields.

She graduated from Nazareth High School in South Boston, and from Laboure College in Dorchester. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UMass Boston. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Marion Manor Nursing Home in South Boston. Later, she worked at Brown Brothers Harriman & Company in Boston in Investor's Services.

Lorraine enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and listening to music. She especially loved the company of her dog Jake, and two rescue dogs, Willy and Lily. She also enjoyed visiting and going to lunch with her friends.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons Marco Deta and his wife Palma of Torino, Italy and Gerard Deta and his wife Samantha of Wasilla, AK. Sister of Anne Collins of Quincy. Grandmother of Claudia, Ella and Emily. Dear aunt of Christopher Collins and his wife Thuy of Canton. Great aunt of Grace & Owen Collins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at South Shore Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
