Cataldo, Louis A. “Lou” of Hingham, died October 9, 2016.
Lou passed peacefully at Southwood Nursing Home in Norwell after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late June “Ann” Cataldo and a loving father of Denise Little of Dartmouth, Christopher Cataldo and his wife Thuy of Endicott, NY, Paula Maxwell and her husband Robert of Pembroke, Andrea Kaplan and her husband Mark of Manchester, VT, and Matthew Cataldo of Marshfield. Lou was a cherished brother of Eileen Gentile of Laconia, NH and the late Rosemary Hauser and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lou was “Papa” to his grandchildren Emmett, Erica, Lauren, Tom, Michael, Miles, Maxx, and Maddie. With his grandchildren, he took the boys “crab hunting” and treated the girls to the Hingham Fire Department pancake breakfasts. Lou played golf and baseball, and was a great fan of hockey, especially when his son was the head coach of the Weymouth High School varsity hockey team.
He attended Boston University, worked at Price Waterhouse, and was a partner at Alexander Grant before starting his own consulting company. He was the founder and president of the Hingham Girls Athletic League, a trustee at South Shore Hospital, a volunteer on the Town Fire Department CERT team, and a very active parishioner at Resurrection Church. Lou had a large personality, an unfailing sense of humor, and a generous heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday prior to the 10 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham. A burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lou may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
