Margaret P. “Peggie” (Folan) Leyden of Weymouth passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 29, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born in Ireland, Peggie was the oldest of eleven children. At the age of sixteen, she emigrated to the United States, where she built a beautiful life as a wife, mother, nurse, citizen, and proud American.

Peggie worked for many years at South Shore Hospital and the South Shore Visiting Nurse Association—work she truly loved. She also loved her family and cherished the many people whose lives she touched. Kind, generous, and compassionate, Peggie was a devoted friend to all who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert T. Leyden and the loving mother of Noreen L. Galvin and her wife, Amy Gandin, of Tarzana, California. She was the cherished grandmother of Sofia, Jack, and Rose.

Peggie was the dear sister of Maureen Marsters of Norwood; Bertie Folan, Michael Folan, Noreen Folan, and Colm Folan of New York; Anne Keane, Martin Folan, and Brid Faherty of Ireland; and the late Seamus Folan and Padraic Folan. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Peggie’s Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 253 Nahatan Street, Norwood. Cremation will follow.
