Obituary

Margaret “Peggy” Tompkins Of Hingham, formerly of Quincy residing most of her life in NYC, died May 9, 2026.

Peggy graduated North Quincy High School, went onto nursing school before moving to Manhattan on her own in her 20’s. She was a dedicated registered nurse and worked at Mount Sinai Hospital for most of her career. She loved having her family visit and explore the city. Peggy had a wonderful group of long term friends in NYC and Long Island whom she traveled with and adored. She was a spitfire who will be greatly missed.

Loving daughter of the late John J. and Olive Tompkins. Cherished sister of Paul Tompkins and his wife Lou of Randolph and Falmouth, and the late Agnes Proude and her surviving husband John, Michael J. Tompkins and his surviving wife Ann, Olive Morin, John J. Tompkins, Jr., Mary Theresa Panasiuk, and Peter Tompkins. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Home service will be celebrated on Wednesday 5/20/2026 at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peggy may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
