Marie (Driscoll) Bunszell, of Weymouth, passed away after a brief illness in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Marie was born and raised in Roxbury. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (McDonald) Driscoll.

She married the love of her life, Joseph Bunszell, on April 18,1959. They were married at Saint Patrick’s Church in Roxbury.

Marie had various jobs through the years at Howard Johnson’s in Quincy, Brady Enterprises in Weymouth, and the Sheraton Tara in Braintree. She was a hardworking woman who took pride in what she did and provided for those she loved.

Marie was a vibrant, youthful woman whose life was filled with family, faith, laughter, music, and travel. She took several trips with her mother, over the years, back to her mother’s homeland of Prince Edward Island. She cherished her Irish heritage and was a proud parishioner of St. Jerome’s in Weymouth. Above all, Marie treasured her family and the time spent with them.

She also had an eclectic taste in music and enjoyed a remarkably wide variety of artists and genres. She attended many concerts over the years and loved experiencing live music. Her passion for travel took her across the country and to various international destinations. She instilled that passion in her children and traveled with them as adults whenever possible.

One of the deepest bonds in Marie’s life was the love she shared with her mother. She was especially proud to have witnessed one of her mother’s greatest accomplishments: becoming an American citizen. Being there to see her mother receive her citizenship was a moment Marie treasured and carried with her throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her love of family, her Irish spirit, her sense of adventure, her generosity, her humor, and her fierce loyalty to those she loved.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Charles Bunszell, who died on July 20, 2026. Together they shared 67 loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Joseph Bunszell Jr. and his wife Kathy of Pembroke, Daniel Bunszell and his wife Ann of Abington, Michael Bunszell and his wife Barbara of Bridgewater, Gary Bunszell and his wife Denise of Hanson, and Heidi Lombard and her husband Mike of Bridgewater. She was the loving grandmother of 14: Joey, Mikey, Patrick, Kevin, Stephen, Carolyn, Eva, Rose, Rob, Melissa, Matthew, Mickey, Colin, and Willie as well as the loving great-grandmother of four: Marlon, Harvey, Audrey, and Lincoln.

She is survived by her sisters Gloria, Margaret, Helen (Louise), and Joan.

She was the sister of the late Joseph, Evelyn, and Dorothy (Dot).
