Bertone, Mario of Hull, died April 4, 2016 after a period of declining health, fighting his illnesses with unbelievable strength and dignity.
The beloved husband of Joan (Spera) Bertone. They shared their lives together for forty-one wonderful years.
Member of The Bricklayers Union Local 3 for over 60 years. Mario was a Master Builder, possessing an ABC builders license and leaving his trademark of excellence throughout the state. He taught his craft to many young men that worked for him. Mario was a simple man, no pretense or false modesty. What you saw was what you got. He was honest and honorable, sincere, hard working, had a sense of humor, and a strong determination, never giving up under any circumstances. He will be remembered for his intelligence, his ability to fix anything, his kindness and for the wonderful advice he provided. He was a true patriot and served his country proudly as a member of the Army National Guard until his Honorable Discharge in July, 1956. He was an avid New England Patriot and Boston Red Sox fan. But the most important part of Mario’s life was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a role model for all of them.
He leaves his children Stephen, Richard, Laura, Donna, Kenneth, and the late Robert. 12 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters. He leaves his brother John of Quincy and his late brothers Sam and Antonio and sister Maria. His friends are too numerous to mention, but each one knows how close they were to his heart.
Both Mario and Joan are most grateful for her loyal and trustworthy business and personal friend Lisa Zadrozny.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10:30 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mario may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675
