Marion E. (Tropea) Marani, 94, entered into eternal rest on November 7th, 2016 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Quincy, she graduated Quincy High School in the class of 1940. She was passionate about her family and her cooking, and her meatballs and ravioli are world renowned. Marion was a sports enthusiast who followed her children and grandchildren’s sports’ teams as closely as she did the Patriots, the Red Sox, and the Celtics. She was devoted to her Catholic Faith and was most recently a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Parish in Quincy. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards with her dear friends at 125 Granite Place in Quincy.
Marion was the beloved wife of the late Evo A. Marani. She was a caring sister to the late Frank, John (Tubba) and Louise Tropea. She is survived by her sister Elaine McGlauflin of Quincy.
She was the Loving Mother of Teresa Kominsky and her husband Carl of Tucson, Arizona; Jack Marani and his wife Linda of Halifax, and Joseph Marani and his wife Mary of Hanover. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer Fearnley, John Marani, Jr., Jeffrey Marani, Joseph Marani, Matthew Marani, Michael Marani, Jodi Seals, and Leah Sauter. Adored “Big Nana” of Evo, Morgan, Morrison, Shea, Emmy, Ryan, Marlowe, Maylee, Leo, Grant, Frank, and Jackson.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, special among them Patti (Marani) Molignano of Weymouth, Donna (Marani) Carr of Abington, Evelyn (Marani) L’Homme of Wareham, Margaret (Marani) Mullen of Pembroke, and Mara (Marani) Russell of Halifax. She leaves many dear friends at 125 Granite Place in Quincy, where she resided for more than 25 years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In Lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to either: St. John the Baptist Parish at 20 Gay Street in Quincy, Massachusetts 02169 or to the Grow Clinic for Children, Dowling Ground, Boston Medical Center, 771 Albany Street, Boston Massachusetts 02118.
