Marion Louise Hoffses, 89, of Yarmouth Port, MA, formerly of Hingham, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born with a warm heart, generous spirit and witty personality, Marion devoted her life to her family and to creating a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition. In high school, she was voted “Best Natured,” a reflection of the kindness and gentle spirit that would define her entire life. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles E. Hoffses, Jr., with whom she shared many wonderful years.
Marion leaves behind her cherished children: Janice Donnellan and her fiancé Kevin Deagle of Rockland; Cheryl Kenney and her late husband Bob of Pembroke; Brian Hoffses and his wife Diane of Hull; Stephen Hoffses and his wife Suzanne of Hingham and Michael Hoffses and his wife Michelle of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind her beloved sister and best friend, Margo Finn of Yarmouth Port, who has been her constant companion and confidant throughout their lives. Lastly, she will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Matthew, Bridget, Paige, Kevin, Madeline, Jacqueline, and Sam, each of whom brought her tremendous joy. Marion loved spending time with her grandchildren—teaching them how to go crabbing with nets and chicken legs and always knowing the perfect spot to find them. She cherished shopping trips with her granddaughters, impromptu outings for ice cream, and sunny days at the beach. She also enjoyed meeting friends at a favorite local restaurant and taking long, meandering drives across the Cape, always discovering hidden gems that others had yet to stumble upon. Marion loved cheering on her Boston Red Sox and took great pride in watching her grandchildren in all of their extracurricular activities. But most importantly, her grandchildren will carry with them the memory of their countless hours of playing “Chicken Foot” at her dining room table down the Cape.
Known for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family, friends and neighbors, Marion spent many years working at the Hingham Police Station, where she was respected for her reliability, warmth, and steady presence. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be remembered for her gentle nature, her thoughtful conversations, and her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved.
Marion’s family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband and all those who passed before her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives she graced.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in memory of Marion on Wednesday November 26, 2025 from 8:00-9:15 AM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, MA 02043, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 9:15 AM.
