Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Mary Ellen Baker, a woman of deep faith and musical joy, passed away on August 20, 2026 at the age of 90.

Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, on April 4, 1936, she was the cherished daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Edna (Corrigan) Cantwell.

Mary pursued her education at Boston University, graduating with distinction before embarking on a career in the marketing department at NELESCO and later as a statistician for Loomis Sayles & Company.

On June 24, 1967, Mary married her beloved husband, Henry Karl Baker. Together they built a life centered on devotion, shared values, and family. Her greatest pride and joy came with the arrival of her son, Karl H. Baker, to whom she dedicated herself wholeheartedly as a loving mother.

A longtime resident with a strong sense of community, Mary was known for her vibrant spirit and lifelong love of singing. She spent many happy years lifting her voice as a dedicated choir member at Sacred Heart Church, where her faith and love for music touched the lives of many. Beyond her musical gifts, she treasured time spent with her family and staying connected with lifelong friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Henry and her brothers Lawrence E. Cantwell and Gerald J. Cantwell.

She is survived by her loving son and his wife, Jennifer (Dean) Baker and her cherished grandchildren, Riley and Bailey Baker.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary’s life during visitation hour on August 29, 2026 from 9 to 10 AM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, South Weymouth, MA
