Mary Ellen (Shea) Cadieux, 90, of Hull, Mass.
Daughter of the late Joseph Shea and Margaret (O’Brien) Shea, Mary Ellen grew up in Springfield, Mass. and was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Our Lady of the Elms College. Following graduation, she worked as an elementary school teacher for many years, initially in her hometown and later in Ottawa, Ont. Mary Ellen ultimately settled in Hingham, where she raised her family while working at the Hingham Public Library, where she touched the hearts of all who knew her during her 25-year career. A devout Catholic, Mary Ellen was a faithful parishioner of Resurrection of the Lord Parish and St. Paul’s Parish in Hingham.
Mary Ellen was the kind of person who inspires the rest of us to be better. Her warmth, kindness, quick wit and deep empathy for others were all core attributes that drew others in and earned her the nickname “Mrs. Nice.” In her later years, she became a devoted fan of the New England Patriots under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, never missing a game. She was an extraordinary woman in so many ways and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and leaves behind her daughter Margaret Cadieux of Hull; son-in-law Steven Levin of Hingham; son Marc Cadieux of Menlo Park, Calif.; grandsons Jimmy Wells and his wife, Rebecca, of Wexford, Pa.; Jake Levin and his wife, Sara, of Providence, R.I.; Jesse Levin of Hingham and Ryan and Cole Cadieux of Menlo Park, and great-grandsons Keegan and Finnegan Wells of Wexford.
