IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary
Fitzmaurice
January 2, 1935 – February 9, 2026
Mass
Church of The Resurrection
10:00 - 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Mary Fitzmaurice, of Hingham, born January 2, 1935, in Randiyohi, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026.
Mary was the beloved daughter of Miller Derrick and Vera (King) Derrick, and their only child. It was her life's dream to create a big, loving and boisterous family. That dream was fulfilled when she met and married her beloved husband of 50 years, Edmund Clark (predeceased). High school sweethearts from Chappaqua, NY, they discovered Hingham together. It was here in this quaint harborside town where they raised five children: Edmund (Rosanne), Michael (Balbina), James (Marilu), John (Kathi), and Susan Fitzmaurice, who in turn gave her nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren - all of whom she loved deeply.
Besides her family, Mary attended Purdue University and built a life in Hingham centered around community and service. She attended St. Paul’s Church and participated in numerous local organizations, including The Garden Club, The Historical Society, and The Republican Club. She was also a former member of the Hingham Yacht Club.
After raising her family, Mary launched a successful wholesale gifts business, Mullen and Fitzmaurice.
This endeavor allowed her to express her many creative talents, entrepreneurial spirit, and artistic eye. She was especially reknown for her skill in floral design, and often shared her services for weddings and other events.
Mary had a deep love of antiques and possessed a remarkable eye for incorporating them into her beloved antique home. This home reflected her appreciation for history and all that was important to her. It became an eternally welcoming place for family and friends.
For many years, Mary was lucky to have a strong constitution, tremendous energy and more than anything - a deep desire to make the most out of life. This included overseas travel to New Zealand, Greece, Ireland, Italy, France, and Spain, along with numerous visits to family on the west coast.
She spent her final days at Linden Ponds and later at Allerton House of Hingham, where she was surrounded by care, compassion and many friends. Mary’s legacy is one of devotion—to her family, her community, and her creative pursuits. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass for Mary will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14th, 2026 in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Historical Society of Hingham, PO Box 434, Hingham MA 02043 would be most welcome.
