Grosso, Mary E. (Mackin) of Norwell, formerly Hingham, passed away August 24, 2026.
Mary was born and raised in New York. After meeting her husband Daniel, they moved around during his medical residency, including living in Italy for 5 years, before settling in Hingham with their family. While raising her children, she volunteered for many organizations and was an advocate for those with intellectual disabilities and the elderly. Later in life, she went back to school and got her Master’s degree in social work from Boston University and worked as a social worker for many years before retiring. Mary adored her family, especially being a Nana to her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, puzzles, gardening, reading, watching the Celtics, and time spent down the Cape. Mary will be remembered as graceful, determined, caring, and loving. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Beloved wife of 46 years to the late Daniel L. Grosso, MD. Loving mother of Andrew Grosso and his wife Tara Ann of Hull and Dan Grosso and his wife Carrie of Knoxville, TN. Cherished sister of Margaret (Peggy) Adamo of Chappaqua, NY, Joseph Mackin and his wife Deborah of Hawthorne, NY, and Patricia (Patty) Walsh of Norwalk, CT. Devoted Nana of Grace, Sophia, Will, and Daniel. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
