The family of Mary Elizabeth (Mahoney) Rochon is saddened to announce her passing on May 11, 2025, Mother’s Day, after a long illness. Mary was born on January 10, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Timothy and Bridget Mahoney. She was raised and educated in Boston, and enjoyed a career as a valued employee in the banking industry before she began raising a family of her own.
Mary’s greatest love was for her children and her faith, so it is fitting that she went to heaven on Mother’s Day. She was a proud and supportive mother and grandmother, and a loving aunt to her nephews and her niece. Mary enjoyed watching all sports and was always happy to attend the children’s sporting events. She especially loved watching her sons play soccer throughout their childhood. She was an avid Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots fan, watching the games together with family. She found great joy in spending time outdoors and going to the beach in the summer. Mary had a fondness for all animals and had a special interest in charities that protected them. Mary’s caring nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary’s Catholic faith was strong and she was a devout parishioner at St. Ann Parish in Quincy for many decades. Mary will be forever loved and missed by her son Ray Rochon and his wife Kim, of Hanson, daughter Suzanne Glynn and her husband Jim, of Braintree, son David Rochon and his wife Amy, of Hanover, and her late son, Steven Rochon, of Quincy. Mary was the proud grandmother of her cherished grandchildren Emily Glynn, Amanda Glynn, Joslynn Rochon, Jason Rochon, and Corrine Rochon. Mary also leaves behind her beloved sister Fran Mahoney, and was predeceased by her dear sister Marguerite (Marge) Skehan and her husband John J. Skehan. She was also predeceased by her much loved brother Joseph Mahoney.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the gifted and caring professionals at the Hancock Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center and the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center for their support.
A celebration of life Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Parish, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy. The family will greet friends prior to the Mass on Wednesday at 10am in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree.
