Mary Kathleen Shanahan, 74 of Halifax Mass, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, Mimi, sister and friend, Mary will forever be remembered for her strength, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Born August 16, 1951, in Dorchester she was the beloved daughter of Late John “Red” Green and Late Kathleen “Claire” Green in which she grew up with a heart full of love and commitment to those around her. She graduated from Holbrook High School. She met the love of her life William Shanahan, whom she had shared 48 beautiful years with and 46 years of marriage on March 8th.  While raising and dedicating her life to her blessings, her children Christopher Shanahan “her baby boy” and his wife Katie of Middleboro, Ma, Kathleen Rodriguez and her husband Roberto of Pelham, NH, Jacqueline Gemme and her Husband Michael of Carver, Ma and distant son Nicholas Shanahan and his wife Dessa residing in Maine with his family. Her truest gifts called her Mimi in which she adored and never missed an important event, Liam, Noah, Mason, Parker, Londyn, Brandon, Ian and Isaac. She had an irreplaceable bond with her Sister, Elizabeth Manning her adored niece Jessica Manning of Attleboro, Ma, cherished Brothers Timothy Green his wife Jennifer of Middleboro, Ma and Kevin Green his wife Flo of S. Weymouth, Ma, Brother in law Thomas Shanahan and wife Cheryl of Weymouth, Ma, long-standing friendships with Sandra Campbell and Noreen Clements as well as many doted nieces, nephews, extended families and friends. Mary treasured all her time she had with her family and friends on any occasion from holidays, birthdays, sporting events, vacations, cooking for them, or just being together, her heart was full when surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary’s life was a true blessing; her memory is now our treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on 2/16/2026 from 1-3 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A prayer service will be celebrated during visiting hours at 2:30PM.
