Mary “Terry” (Comer) Pecevich, of Quincy, was lovingly called home by God on January 21, 2026, at the age of 95. In accordance with God’s Greater Plan, her earthly journey came to a peaceful close in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, as she was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Walter. Just as she trusted and awaited when God, in His perfect time, chose to call her home.
Born in Boston to the late John and Catherine (Mullen) Comer, Terry made Quincy her home for nearly 64 years, where she became a familiar and beloved presence. She will be remembered as a woman whose life was rooted in faith, family, and a quiet, steadfast love.
Family was the true center of Terry’s world. She adored her six grandchildren beyond measure and spoke of them with constant pride and joy. Being their Nana was her greatest delight. She followed their lives closely, celebrated their milestones, prayed the rosary for them daily, and loved them unconditionally. Her heart was a home without doors; every grandchild lived there, permanently and without condition.
A devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy, Terry’s faith shaped the rhythm of her days. She attended Mass faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to do so in person and then continued daily by watching Mass and praying the rosary on Catholic television. She welcomed Communion into her home and remained spiritually present and engaged. A longtime member of the Catholic Women’s Club, Terry found joy and fellowship in serving her parish. If you crossed her path, chances are you were added to her prayer list.
Faith for Terry was never abstract. It was lived, bead by bead. The rosary was never far from her hands or her heart, carrying her prayers for the weak, the suffering, and the downtrodden. And always for her children and grandchildren. She believed deeply that everyone carries both good and bad, and that we are always called to focus on the good. She lived her life like a prayer, rooted deeply in faith, rich in love, and poured out most beautifully through her devotion to her family. Though her rosary may now rest still, her prayers continue in the lives she touched and the grandchildren she loved so dearly.
Beyond her family, Terry expressed her faith through joyful service. She loved Sacred Heart Parish and Quincy Catholic Academy, volunteering when she could and enthusiastically selling raffle calendars to support the education of parish children. She also delighted in community traditions, including the Quincy Christmas Parade and dressing as Mrs. Claus on the Quincy Catholic Academy float.
Terry had a kind word for everyone and a rare ability to make people feel seen and welcomed. She and her late husband, Walter, shared a love of travel, taking cruises, visiting Ireland, and spending 37 cherished consecutive years returning to Aruba, where she formed lasting friendships and treasured her time at Casa Del Mar Resort.
She now rejoices in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Walter W. Pecevich.
She is the loving mother of Susan O’Connor and her husband Desmond, Stephen Pecevich, Carolyn Pecevich, all of Quincy, and Paula Pecevich of Braintree.
She is the cherished sister of John “Jake” Comer and his late wife Eileen of Quincy; William Comer and his late wife Margaret of Pembroke; Patricia Comer and her husband Terry Lee Swarts of Guilford, CT; James Comer and his wife Barbara of Hanover; and the late Imelda Gemmel and her late husband Paul, and the late Thomas Comer and his late wife Joan.
Terry was the devoted and deeply loved grandmother of Catherine, Eileen, Tari, Mia, Sydni, and Tristin, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
