Maryann “Mae” Richardson (Kennedy), 75, of Weymouth, passed away suddenly on February 9, 2026.
Born and raised in South Boston, Mae was the beloved daughter of the late John and Eleanor Kennedy. South Boston was always close to her heart, and it was there, at just 16 years old, that she met the love of her life, Walter Richardson, at Carson Beach. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love story and a devoted marriage filled with happiness, strength, and deep commitment.
Mae and Walter built a beautiful life together in North Weymouth, creating a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of their family. Though small in stature, Mae was truly “short but mighty.” She may have been shy or even bashful at times, but she possessed a quiet strength and unwavering faith that guided her throughout her life. She raised her family with resilience, love, and devotion, always putting others before herself.
A natural caregiver, Mae dedicated her life to her family. She lovingly raised her children and later helped care for her grandchildren, offering them the same steady presence, home-cooked meals, and unconditional love. She worked nights and still spent her days caring for her family, embodying true selflessness and tireless devotion
Mae had a special love for holidays, every single one of them. No celebration was ever too small. She decorated with joy and enthusiasm, turning ordinary days into cherished memories and bringing her family together at every opportunity.
Above all, Mae will be remembered for her strength, her faith, her generosity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the home she built, the family she nurtured, and the countless memories she created.
Cherished wife of Walter Richardson, loving mother to Walter L. Richardson Jr and his late wife Annemarie of Plymouth, Taryn M. Thoms of Weymouth and Lauren M. Lemere and her husband Maynard “Mick” of Rockland. Grandmother to Shawn Boyle, Shannon Boyle, Andrew Richardson, Jared Thoms, Jacob Thoms and his wife Ava, Ashley Richardson, Owin Lemere, Dylan Thoms, Cole Lemere and Avery Mae Danforth. And great grandmother to Camden and Mason Boyle and Sawyer Thoms. Devoted sister to John “Jack” Kennedy and his wife Arlene of South Boston and Robert “Bo” Kennedy and his wife Karen of Quincy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 2/19/2026 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Friday 2/20/2026 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
