Maureen A. Amato

Maureen A. Amato, 62, of Quincy, MA, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at her home on September 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Maureen was raised in East Dedham and Central Square, Cambridge, MA. She later earned her degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Salem State University. While she was proud of her academic achievements, her greatest joy and accomplishment was serving as the CEO and founder of the Amato household since 1993.

Maureen’s strong will, humor, and boundless love defined her life. She was an active voice in advocating for ADA compliance in Quincy, always striving to make her community better while brightening it with her ever-present smile and uplifting spirit.

She had a gift for connection—able to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Her laugh lit up every room, leaving an impression on all who knew her. Maureen loved collecting sea glass along the beach, painting rocks with inspiring messages to share around the neighborhood and expressing herself through spontaneous other projects. She cherished long walks, especially those spent by the ocean at Wollaston Beach with her husband Mike, where they often dreamed up their next concert adventure together.

Maureen leaves behind her beloved husband, Michael J. Amato. Additionally, Maureen is survived by daughters, Alicia G. Simoes and her husband Brad of Swansea, and Erica M. Amato and her husband Alex of Bavaria, Germany, and a son, Derek M. Amato and his fiancée Meghan of Halifax, and four beloved grandchildren, Angelina, Bennett, Makensie and Michael; and her sister, Colleen Swanson and husband, Harley of Hartford, Maine. She also leaves behind countless memories of kindness, creativity, and love.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00-6:00 PM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02170. A celebration of Maureen’s life will be held at The Fours Restaurant at 15 Cottage Ave, Quincy, MA 02169 on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to honor her memory and the joy she brought to the world. To celebrate her spirit, we invite guests to wear purple or pink to the ceremonies, her favorite colors.
