Colombo, Michael A. of Hingham, originally CT, died May 9, 2026 surrounded by family.

Michael graduated from Stratford High School in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Air Force. After Serving his Country and being honorably discharged from the military, he went on to work for the Southern Connecticut Gas Company for 41 years. He started as a meter reader and worked his way up to a level A technician. He was retired for 6 months before deciding it wasn't for him and began working as a security guard for Mohegan Sun, where his wife enjoyed visiting. He was so honest and trustworthy that he was the go-to man for escorting millions of dollars from the casino floor to the vault. He was hardworking and proud that his children were the first to go to college from his family. Michael was a devout Catholic and was always praying and reading the rosary. He loved baseball and watching his son play when he was growing up. He worked long hours, but always made time to see both his son and daughter play sports in high school and college. Once his wife’s health started declining, they moved to Hingham to be closer to family. They traveled to Florida every Easter and Thanksgiving to see his son Mike and his family. He loved going to the grandchildren’s activities and games. When his wife passed away in 2022, he became his daughter Lucy’s sidekick, going grocery shopping and running errands together. He loved rides in Billy’s pickup truck and nights at the 99 Restaurant for soup. Michael started taking weekly classes at the Senior Center and went on 2 walks a day, becoming a familiar face in the neighborhood. Michael was an old school gentleman who was reliable, kind, and dedicated to his country, family, work, and faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of the late Litria “Lydia” (Gibilisco) Colombo. Loving father of Michael Colombo and his wife Susan of Estero, FL and Lucy Jacobus and her husband William of Hingham. Cherished brother of the late Tony Colombo. Loving Papa of Daniel, Rocco, and Issac Colombo, and Billy, Frankie, and Julie Jacobus.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 5/22/26 from 10-11 AM in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment at Glastonbury Abbey, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Hingham Veteran in Need Fund, 210 Central St., Hingham, MA 02043.
