Michael P. Howie of Scituate, formerly of Quincy, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the age of 52.
Mike grew up in the Montclair neighborhood of Quincy, where he served as an altar boy and sang in the choir at Sacred Heart Church, attended Quincy public schools, and graduated from North Quincy High School in 1992. Immediately following graduation, Mike chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. Upon returning to Quincy, he continued his military career by joining the Army National Guard, which led to his deployment in Iraq with the 102nd Field Artillery. His dedication to service and his commitment to his community continued as he began his nearly 20-year career in law enforcement, beginning with the Transit Police before moving on to proudly serving in the Quincy Police Department.
Mike met the love of his life, Noreen (Carson), while snowboarding at Loon Mountain. Soon after, she became his wife and they started a wonderful life together with a home in Quincy. They enjoyed their time snowboarding and travelling before having their two amazing children, Matthew and Rebecca, who were Mike’s pride and joy. In 2015, they moved their beautiful family to the town of Scituate, where they planted their roots and made many wonderful friends.
In Mike’s free time, he loved being outdoors whether it was fishing, kayaking, ice skating or building campfires. He was a man of many self-taught talents. What started as a hobby, soon became his passion. His love of wood working, led to Mike building his own boat from scratch, lovingly naming it the Ann Marie, after his late mom.
Mike was the beloved husband of 21 years to Noreen E. (Carson) Howie and devoted father to Matthew and Rebecca Howie. Loving brother to Donald Howie and his partner Blake Delaney of Hampton, NH, Christopher Howie and his wife Maryellen McGrath-Howie of Braintree, and Colby Deering of Dorchester. Brother-in-law to Stacy Nantel, Kathleen Bates and Doreen Douglas. Son-in-law to Edward and Patricia Carson. Adoring Uncle to Allyson Shammo and her husband Francis, Dylan Howie, Lillian Howie, Roseleen Howie, Ryan Bates, James Bates, Michel Nantel and Max Nantel. Also, proud great Uncle to Francis Shammo. Predeceased by his parents, Ann Marie (Schell) and Donald Howie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 4-8pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, QUINCY, MA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15am on Friday, February 13, 2026, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10am. Burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike's name may be made to Project New Hope, MA, 70 James Street, Suite 155 Worcester, MA 01603.
