After a hard-fought battle, Michael "Mike" Santostefano of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 28th. He was 89 years old.

He was born in Boston to Angelina (Perroso) and Vincent Santostefano and raised in South Boston and later Dorchester. After graduating from Dorchester High School, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served for 2 years. He met his wife, Josephine (Petrillo) when they were just kids and they married shortly after he returned from serving. They were married for 67 years and had 4 children together. Mike was known for his hard work as a union carpenter where he worked for many years before earning a position with the Quincy Housing Authority. He worked there for 25 years before retiring.

Mike was a Marine, a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and the heart of his family. He was a man who always showed up for those he loved and cared for them fiercely. Mike took immense pride in his family and in the life he built alongside them. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

A master craftsman, Mike found great joy in designing and building special pieces for his children and grandchildren. His talent, creativity, and attention to detail were evident in everything he made, and his gifts will remain treasured reminders of his love.

Mike also loved spending time at his home away from home, Baxter Lake in Rochester, New Hampshire. There, he built lasting friendships. Whether he was enjoying a game of cribbage, relaxing on his boat under the sun, or tending to his garden, he found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life.

An avid football fan, Mike rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the New England Patriots. He also had a deep appreciation for good food and enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends.

Above all, Mike was a true gentleman. He treated everyone with kindness and respect, was generous in spirit, and remained humble throughout his life. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for family and friends touched countless lives. Mike will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Devoted father to Vincent Santostefano and his wife Ann Marie of Sagamore Beach, Elizabeth MacDonald and her husband Michael of Quincy, Michelle LaPierre and her husband Joseph of Quincy, and Lisa Skinner and her husband Robert “Duka” of Weymouth. Adoring Papa to Angela and her husband Dennis, Nicole, Matthew, Danielle, Michael and his wife Julie, Gabrielle, and Samantha. He was also the proud Papa of five cherished great-grandchildren: Gianna, Francesca, Luca, Aria, and Vincent,

Loving brother to Mary Adduci and her husband George of Rockland and the late Norma Bell and her late husband George. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, September 13th, from 2-4 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, September 14th, at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial will be held privately at the National Cemetery, at a later date.
