Mildred L. "Mil" (Andersen) Mooter

Mildred L. “Mil” (Andersen) Mooter, of Hingham, formerly of Sacramento, Brockton, and Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was 78.

Born in Long Beach, California, on August 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Sarah (Hillibert) Andersen. She attended local schools and graduated from Davis High School in Davis, California.

A devoted and caring person, she touched the lives of many with her warmth, laughter, and unwavering compassion. Mil pursued her passion for beauty and personal care by attending cosmetology school, eventually building a long and dedicated career as a hairdresser. Over the years, she worked in various salons, including as a stylist in Brockton and Quincy, before operating her own in-home salon from 1980 to 2006. Never one to sit idle, she continued her work by bringing her services to local nursing homes, offering care and connection to seniors from 2006 until retiring in 2010.

On November 24, 1979, she married the love of her life at St. John the Baptist Church in Quincy, joined in matrimony by Fr. McMahon. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

In 2006, Mildred experienced a life-altering health event—a cerebral aneurysm rupture that required emergency surgery. With extraordinary strength, grace, and determination, she made a full recovery. Her resilience during that time was nothing short of inspiring, and it reflected the deep well of courage that defined her character.

Mil had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved reading, staying informed about current events, and especially cherished time spent at the beach. Block Island and Anna Maria Island held a special place in her heart—places where she felt most at peace and joyful. Her beloved cats brought her endless comfort and companionship through the years.

Above all else, Mildred was known for her loving spirit, joyous demeanor, and unwavering care for others. Her greatest happiness came from seeing to the health and well-being of those around her. She will be remembered as someone who gave of herself freely and loved deeply.

Her presence will be dearly missed, but the love and warmth she gave to the world will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Mil was the beloved wife of Gregory Mooter, with whom she shared 46 loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Mary L. Mooter of Weymouth, and the late Derek Michael Mooter. Mil was the loving grandmother of Derek G. Mooter of Quincy, and the dear sister of Walter Andersen of Texas. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Following cremation, Mil’s funeral services and interment will be held privately.
