Nancy Jane (Boyd) Toughill passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of Marian (Allen) and James William Boyd of Glassboro, New Jersey.

Nancy spent her childhood in Glassboro and was extremely active during her high school years, lettering in field hockey and basketball. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader for the Glassboro Bulldogs and the Secretary of her class as well as taking an active role with the drama club and Student Counsil. The class of 1950 voted her most athletic among many other superlatives, and she was inducted into Glassboro High School's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. Post graduation she was employed as the Secretary to the President of Glassboro State College.

As a girl, Nancy attended the youth baseball games in town, keeping stats for her dad's team The Red Tops. Several years later she fell in love with one of those Red Tops players. Nancy Boyd and Frank Toughill were married on May 8,1954. They enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage together before Frank's death in 2024. He truly was the love of her life.

In 1962, they settled in Hingham, Massachusetts where they raised their family along with a group of wonder families on Colonial Road. As an adult, tennis was Nancy's sport and she never missed a Tuesday evening on the court with her beloved ladies. On weekends she and Frank would escape to the mountains to ski with family and friends. Once her children reached their teen years, Nancy returned to work outside the home as an Executive Secretary to the President of Pyrotector,Inc. located in the The Hingham Shipyard.

The ultimate caregiver, Nanny was mother to all. This was her most cherished role and one in which she excelled. From hosting holiday dinners to poolside cookouts, her home was where we gathered and where we knew we were loved.

When first moving to Hingham, Nancy was very active in The United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, attending Bible Study and driving for the FISH (friends in service helping) Organization. She later joined House of Prayer Lutheran Church where she continued her outreach as Chairperson of The Shepards offering visitation to those in need. Nancy's faith was very important to her. She was a true Servant of Our Lord.

Nancy is survived by her sister, Grace Boyd Ford and her son Frank Toughill both of Hingham, Her daughter, Terry Toughill Roder and husband Paul of Sudbury and grandchildren Jacquelyn Nicole Roder and Gregory James Roder as well as her beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The Toughill Family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Allerton House in Weymouth as well as the staff at Old Colony Hospice for the compassionate care provided during Nancy's journey.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday March 27, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday March 28, 2026 at 10 AM in House of Prayer Lutheran Church. Burial in Forthill Cemetery, Hingham.
