Nevin Wayne Hagan, of Weymouth, died peacefully with his family by his side, on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 79.

Nevin was born in Castine, Maine on February 9, 1947, and was the son of the late Floyd and Mary F. (Douglass) Hagan.

Nevin was a Quincy native, raised in the Germantown neighborhood, and a proud graduate of Quincy High School. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army on April 28, 1969. He served during the Vietnam Era, spending his time stationed in Okinawa, and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1972.

In 1975, fate intervened on a tennis court. That's where Nevin met Joyce, and two years later, on April 17, 1977, they were married at Christ Church in Quincy. They built their life together on the South Shore, settling in Weymouth in 1978, where they would spend the next four-plus decades side by side. This past April marked their 49th anniversary.

Nevin was a man who poured himself into the things he loved, and the people he loved most were his family. He never missed a game, or an event. Through high school and even into their college years, his children could count on seeing him in the stands. When the grandchildren came along, a new kind of joy arrived with them, holding them, feeding them, and taking them for rides on his scooter.

He and Joyce were adventurous in their own way. They spent summers at their cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. They made pilgrimages to Stonington, Maine for lobster and shellfish and time with family. And in retirement, they embraced the world, setting sail on fourteen cruises, mostly aboard Princess, with a couple of Norwegian voyages mixed in. They explored the Mediterranean, Greece, Rome, and Nevin made sure to see the Colosseum, which was, thankfully, accessible for his scooter. Norway and the Caribbean were his ultimate favorites.

At home, Nevin was most at peace outdoors. Every morning began the same way: a hot coffee with two sugars and cream, a blueberry muffin, and a quiet hour on the porch watching the birds, especially the cardinals, as he loved all the red birds that visited. He spent long hours in his yard, growing the same beloved flowers each year, New Guinea impatiens, alongside his tomato plants. He was a gifted tennis player well into his fifties. A true handyman who replaced the roof, replaced the windows, and built the deck with his father-in-law, and a man who simply loved working with his hands and being outside, often happily baking in the sun.

When it came to television, he kept it simple: sports only. The New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and all the Boston teams.

Nevin’s legacy of life lessons and example serve as his legacy which continues through his family. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.

Nevin was the beloved husband of Joyce E. (Lander) Hagan. He was the devoted father of Adam Hagan and his wife Kristin of Weymouth, and Gregory Hagan and his wife Jeanna Hagan of Weymouth. Nevin was the loving Grampy of Ellie and Luke Hagan, both of Weymouth. He was the brother of Karen Bullis and her late husband Gary of Middleboro, and the late John Hagan and his surviving wife Kim of Florida. Nevin is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A - Bicknell Square).
