Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Norma (Cushing) Roche, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 81 years old.

Born on August 4, 1944, in Dorchester, Norma was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Eve Cushing. She later made her home in Quincy with her beloved husband of 63 years, the late Paul Roche, where together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

Norma will be remembered most for her gentle heart and unwavering kindness. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. People were naturally drawn to her warmth, her sweet spirit, and the genuine joy she brought wherever she went. Even as she faced the challenges of dementia, she never lost the kindness that defined her. Her loving nature, warm smile, and gentle soul remained with her until the very end.

Nothing made Norma happier than dancing. Whether at a family celebration or simply enjoying a favorite song, she lit up whenever she was on the dance floor. She also loved hunting for treasures at yard sales, shopping, expressing herself through fashion, playing cards, and traveling. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and in sharing them with the people she loved.

A devoted Christian, Norma's faith was the foundation of her life. She found comfort in prayer and Bible study and lived her faith through quiet acts of compassion, generosity, and love.

Above all else, Norma cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest blessings of her life. She delighted in hearing about their lives, celebrating their accomplishments, attending all sporting, dance and school events or just simply being together. Her love for her family was constant, unconditional, and evident in everything she did.

Before retiring, Norma worked in the records department at South Shore Mental Health, where she formed many lasting friendships. She treated coworkers and strangers alike with the same kindness and respect that became the hallmark of her life.

Norma leaves behind her loving children, cherished grandchildren, adored great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends who will forever remember her beautiful heart. Survived by siblings Anna Griffin and Heidi Conyoer. predecc by siblings Nina, Donna, Danny and Eddie.

Children. Theresa Roche and her husband Micheal Richardson, Paul Roche and his fiance Kristen Babineau, Deanna Murphy and her husband Billy, Andrea McDonough and her husband PJ.

Grandchildren D’onna and Paul Roche, Ryan, Rylie and Lily McDonough, William and Genevieve Murphy, Predeceased by her grandsons Anthony Dimeco and David Tapper.

Great grandchildren, Kaya, Michael and Julius.

Norma's greatest legacy is not found in what she owned or accomplished, but in how she made people feel. Her kindness, grace, and capacity to love never faded, and those who knew her are better for having shared in her life.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 7/24/2026 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So.
