Oliver P. Mannion

Oliver P. Mannion, of Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Oliver’s final chapter was marked by the quiet courage with which he faced advanced kidney failure. When treatment no longer offered quality of life, he chose the comfort of home and time with his family. He was surrounded by love and cared for by Noreen until his final day.

Oliver Plunket Mannion was born on December 8, 1945, in Kilbricken Rosmuc, County Galway, Ireland, to Patrick and Barbara (Joyce) Mannion.

He immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in the Boston area where he soon met the love of his life, his devoted wife, Noreen (Hickey) Mannion. Together, they shared 52 loving years of marriage.

A longtime resident of Quincy, MA, Oliver cherished his home and his much-loved garage. He spent countless happy hours there—fixing cars, helping friends, and turning it into a welcoming gathering place where something was always being repaired, shared, or simply talked through, making it the true heart of the home.

Known for his unwavering work ethic and ability to fix just about anything, Oliver owned and operated O.P. Mannion, Inc., an excavation company he took great pride in. Later, he found another professional home with R.J. Devereaux Corporation, where he spent some of his happiest working years. He loved the people, the work, and the sense of purpose it gave him every single day.

He was the beloved father of Olivia Andrews and her husband, Rich, of Braintree, MA and Patrick Mannion and his wife, Caroline, of Norway. He is predeceased by his daughter, Tara Gallagher. Oliver was the proud grandfather of Cullen, Hannah, Kieran, Sienna, Chloe, and Alanna, and is predeceased by his granddaughter, Aoife. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Philomena Foy, and her husband, James, of Milton, MA, and his brother, Eamonn Mannion, and his wife, MaryAnn, of Quincy, MA, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family in the United States and Ireland. He is also predeceased by his siblings Eileen Mannion, Martin “Joe” Mannion, Theresa Sullivan, Colman Mannion, and Anthony Mannion.

Oliver’s life was rooted in family, faith, hard work, and generosity. His legacy lives on in his family, in the lives he touched, and in the countless cars and trucks he brought back to life over the years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 12/12/2025 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday 12/13/2025 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Oliver may be made to Father Bill’s Place, Development Office, 422 Washington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
