Patricia M. Barrett of Weymouth, a beacon of warmth and care in her community, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on March 21, 1953, to the late Theresa and Warren Nickerson.
A lifelong resident of Dorchester, Patricia's early education in her hometown laid the foundation for her compassionate spirit. She carried this spirit into her career as a pediatric nurse at South Shore Hospital, where she served for 32 years.
Patricia's heart was always fullest when surrounded by her beloved family. She was the cherished wife of Richard Barrett of Weymouth. Mother and best friend to Theresa M. Whittaker of Weymouth. She was a loving sister to Ann Nickerson of Northampton, Theresa Marcantonio and her husband Vincent of Centerville, and Jean Nickerson of Northampton. She was a loving niece to Aunt Moe of Weymouth. Patricia's memory will also be treasured by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her siblings Geraldine and Harry Nickerson, whose memories she held close to her heart.
Patricia's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She had an abiding love for animals, especially her cat Scrubs. She could often be found enjoying a Bud Light and a lobster roll, a simple pleasure that brought her great joy. Her screen house was her sanctuary, a place where she spent countless hours in the company of family and friends, reveling in the beauty of the outdoors. Bowling was another favorite activity during her younger years.
Known for her great sense of humor, Patricia's laughter was infectious. She had a knack for making others smile, often quipping, "You're a riot," in response to their stories. A natural caretaker, she never missed an opportunity to show her love, whether through her never-forgotten Christmas gifts or the surprises from her "magic closet." Her generosity and thoughtfulness were hallmarks of her character.
