Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Sherman, affectionately known as the “Mayor of Dunks,” passed away peacefully on April 20th, surrounded by family and friends.

Pat was a devoted Catholic of St. Ann’s Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and dedicated over 40 years as a CCD teacher. Her faith was at the heart of who she was, guiding a life centered on kindness, service, and love for others.

Pat found her greatest joy in giving of herself, especially to children and families. She had a remarkable way of embracing every child as her own, celebrating their birthdays, supporting their families, and making each one feel seen and loved. Whether she was helping care for children so parents could work, offering a helping hand, or sharing what little she had, Pat gave freely and selflessly, never expecting anything in return.

Her impact on the Quincy community was profound. In her final months, the outpouring of visits, love, and support from generations of people she had touched was a true testament to the difference she made in so many lives.

She will be remembered for the simple, meaningful ways she brought joy to others, from her daily mornings at Dunkin’ Donuts, where she formed lasting friendships, to the countless quiet acts of kindness that defined her life.

Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clyde Sherman, and her son, Scott Sherman.

She is survived by her loving son, Eric Sherman, and his wife, Joanne Burke-Sherman; her grandsons, Trevor and Shane; her daughter-in-law, Sonya Smith, and her children, Sarah and Scott; and her cherished grandchild, Maverick. She is also survived by the many dear friends who were like family to her, especially those she shared her mornings with at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Pat will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering kindness, and the love she gave so freely to all.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 5/8/2026 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday 5/9/2026 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
