Paul Demetrios Coulouras, beloved husband, father, brother-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Megalopolis, Greece, on January 31, 1939, Paul’s life was a remarkable journey marked by love, resilience, family, and an enduring passion for bringing people together.

At the age of sixteen, Paul made the courageous decision to leave his homeland and begin anew in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Arriving in 1956, he lived with his aunt and cousins, embracing his new surroundings while retaining a deep appreciation for his Greek roots. Just two years after arriving in the United States, Paul attended a Greek dance at Boston’s Somerset Hotel, where fate would introduce him to Mary, the woman who would become his lifelong companion. Their love blossomed quickly, and they were married in 1960, embarking on a partnership that would last a lifetime.

Paul was a devoted and loving husband to Mary, cherishing the life they built together. Throughout their marriage, they shared a love for travel, exploring the world side by side. Paul delighted in these journeys, relishing the opportunity not only to see new places but also to indulge in his passion for food. He was an enthusiastic cook who eagerly gathered tips and secrets from kitchens around the globe. To Paul, eating and cooking were not simply sustenance, but joyful celebrations of culture and family. His home was filled with the irresistible aromas of the dishes he mastered, and he took great pride in gathering loved ones around his table.

Family was at the very heart of Paul’s world. He was a dedicated father to his daughters, Joanne Salerno (and her husband Jack) and Dianne Germain (and her husband Kevin). He was beloved brother-in-law of James Pantages. As a grandfather, “Papo,” to Rasa St. John (and her husband Keith), Arry Salerno (and his wife Bailey), and Isidora Germain, Paul took immense joy in watching his family grow and thrive. His love reached even further as a cherished “PapoPapo” to his great-grandchildren: Audrey, Olivia, and Emily St. John, and Stella Grace Salerno. His pride in his family was boundless, and his warmth touched every generation.

Paul was known for his hospitality, and his devotion to the people he loved. He was celebrated among family and friends as the host of unforgettable gatherings where laughter filled the air, the music of Greece echoed through the home, and every guest felt part of something special. Paul and Mary were avid fans of the Boston Red Sox, sharing hours and hours together cheering for their team, a pastime that brought them even closer and created wonderful memories.

The life of Paul Demetrios Coulouras was a rich tapestry of love, tradition, and kindness. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 9 to 11 AM at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, 835 Willard Street, Quincy, MA, at 12:15 PM.
